LAMB OF GOD

Good Morning, Mighty Woman of God!

I am currently taking online courses with Blue Letter Bible Institute. I learned something so awesome today.  In the Old Testament the Romans would make atonement for their sins by using two lambs. People would go to the marketplace to purchase the lambs and the Roman High Priest would slaughter the first lamb and used the blood for atonement of their sins. Then they would take the second lamb and lay hands on it for the sins of the people, then send the lamb out into the wilderness. The people would not look back or see where their sins were going.

Jehovah Jireh means “the Lord will provide”.  And that’s just what God did when he made provisions for us through His Son, Jesus Christ.  He knew that we were never going to be able to follow His commands without His son dying on the cross for our sins.  The sole purpose of Jesus Christ dying on the cross and His resurrection was to allow us to be in fellowship with Him. Without the blood, there is no remission of sins.  Today, there is no need to purchase lambs to slaughter for our sins.  God sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ died for our sins, therefore becoming the sacrificial Lamb of God.

If you just take a moment to think about all that the Lord has done for you, you should realize that it is not just some small thing.  Would you put a crown of thorns upon your head or would you let someone whip you until the skin is hanging off your body?  Would you let someone hammer nails in your hands and feet?  Would you do that just for some ungrateful sinners?

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth (Isaiah 53:7-8) and (John 1:29), The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!  LET US PRAY!

Heavenly Father, I pray that you forgive me for my sins, Lord and help me to not look back on them.  Almighty God, I thank you for the sacrifice you made by sending your only begotten Son Jesus Christ to be the atonement for my sins and the sins of the world, in Jesus name, Amen.
