HURT PEOPLE, HURT PEOPLE

Good Morning, Mighty Woman of God!  I speak the blessings of the Lord upon your life and the fullness of the Holy Spirit evident in all that you desire and need, in Jesus name.

Genesis (37:4-5, 18-19), When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.  Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. (18) But they saw him in the distance, and before he reached them, they plotted to kill him. 19 "Here's comes that dreamer!" they said to each other, "Come now, let's kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we'll see what comes of his dreams."

Hurt people, hurt people, what does that mean? Well I'm glad you asked.  Chapter 37 of Genesis is the story about Jacob's son Joseph and his brothers jealousy over him.  Joseph's brothers were hurt because of their fathers love for Joseph.  They were hurt because God had given Joseph dreams that he would someday be a ruler over them.  So because Joseph's brothers were hurt, they plotted to not only hurt Joseph but to kill him.

Okay, it's time for my testimony, maybe this will better help you to understand the message I am giving to you today.  I have been hurt a lot during my childhood and way into my adulthood.  As a child I wet the bed a little longer than most children.  I was whipped everyday because of it.  At one point, I had my mattress taken away from me and had to sleep on springs.  I was talked about even by my relatives, told I would never amount to anything, basically I was doomed.  During my teenage years and well into my adulthood the abuse went from physical to sexual to mental.  Beginning from childhood all the way through two marriages, I suffered from some type of abuse.

One thing that I have learned through all of my suffering is that the persons that hurt me, were hurt also.  Not that they were hurt the same way that they hurt me, but they were hurt in some way or another.  Actually you never know why people intentionally hurt you but they seem to be happier when you are hurting rather than to be in a happy place within yourself.  Some people have been hurt emotionally therefore they have no idea how to show any emotions to others.  And because they hurt they pass it on to you.  If you look back on all the times that you were hurt, look at the person that did the hurting and you will find out that they were hurt also.  Maybe they were alcoholics, drug addicts, suffer from PTSD or some other type of abuse.  People don't usually hurt people for no reason.  Because I was hurt by men, I hurt every man that crossed my path.  I did not learn love as a child therefore not able to show love or compassion as an adult.  I had to forgive them to be able to enjoy the rest of my adulthood and marriage.

Woman of God, if you find yourself unable to forgive someone that has intentionally hurt you, you must forgive them so that you can move forward.  Don't allow that person another moment of your life.  As long as you don't forgive them they are stealing precious moments from your life.  You need to forgive them from past hurts so that you can be released from them.  Trust me, you are not the only person that he/she has hurt and you won't be the last.  This is because they are hurt, therefore they find the need to get over their hurt by hurting you.  Hurt people don't know how to show love or compassion they only know how to give what they received which is hurt.  They haven't released the person that hurt them and they have passed hurt to you.

If you are in a relationship, any kind of relationship and you are constantly being hurt, you need to strongly look at that person because them hurting you won't stop until they themselves have stopped hurting.  I hope that this message is a blessing to you and that you understand what I am trying to say.  GOD BLESS YOU!
